It’s always great to see young people — any people! — taking action to right wrongs. Children are among the most vulnerable in any society, but let’s not do them a disservice if by assuming that they cannot or do not break out of passive victim roles.

I like to think that reporting on stories like William’s, which was covered in the Australian broadsheets, can challenge the lamentable tendency here to think of people in countries with few resources as in need of Western expertise to find a way forward…
